Here is a short video on the place I’ve been working out of for some while, it is a short walk through of my old office that I won’t be working in any longer.  Wes Mahler unedited, no makeup, or no cleaning the room before shoot, this is how it looks!

Study - PHP Security - Affiliate Increase

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

If you ever want to get something, study it.

  • If you want to be rich, study wealth.
  • If you want to be influential, study influence.
  • If you want to have happiness, study happiness.
  • If you want to be good at seo, study it.

I’m building a very intensive web 2.0 application that will be targeted towards internet entrepreneurs, I have been trying to develop it for over a year now and have made 3 betas, and hired one programmer, threw it all away, and re-modified the business model, and programming myself now.

If your developing an intensive web application it is extremely important to make it secure, so study security. You want to know what you can do to make your web application secure, the last thing you want is someone to penetrate your website, steal your data, spam your users, sabotage or files or anything else. When you store someone else’s’ data and loose it, you will look extremely bad and it could be a potential fatal blow to your business.

Imagine if PayPal had several security breaches, I’m sure they would probably keep going, but loose massive customers because of security issues, and those customers would switch to something else if possible.  So make security a study when you are going to develop an intensive programmed piece of software yourself.

Here is $90 in books I just ordered online to aid me in my studies:

For PHP Security, Chris Shiftlett is the man, he knows the guru at it. He has a blog, and you’ll want to read his book, Essential PHP Security [must read].

The pimp himself, Jon Waraas who makes alot of money at home I know studies SEO a ton, and it is by his studying, knowledge acquisition put to into action that he receives over 300,000 uniques visitors a month via organic and natural visitors from wherever.

$10,000/month, I study people who earn over $10,000/month, and have been studying affiliate marketing.  I’m excited to say that yesterday I was able to hit $63+ in commissions in a single day. Once I average it out to that on a daily basis that will be an additional $1,500 gross income towards $10,000/month. Affiliate Marketing is good money if you study the art of it.

If you want to get good at something, study it.

They Say Money Doesn’t Make You Happy And The Love Money Is Evil

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

What a bunch of crock, if you are interested in money go after it.  When I look back and when I was in debt with credit cards, I have $10 in my bank account, matter of fact I over drafted 3-4x.  I tell you, what makes you unhappy is not having enough money.  The love of money is evil? The love of money serves no purpose, I don’t think anyone actually loves money, because loving money serves no purpose. It isn’t the money, it is what the money can do you for you, it is HAVING THE FREEDOM OF BEING FINANCIALLY INDEPEDENT, where you can DO WHATEVER YOU WANT.

My aunt says wes you work all the time, don’t you want to be a normal college student. You going to miss the college life.  No I don’t want to be a normal college student, what would I ever want to be normal The average household has over $6,000 in credit card debt, the average household makes less than $100,000 a year, the average student will work for someone else, the average college student will never set a single goal in his or her life.  So no, I don’t feel like associating with it, I’m going after freedom.

I’m reflecting, today, I’m making another offer today on another house.  It is so blissful to do what you love, and start to earn more income, it has been going better.  I remember one saying, “They say money doesn’t make you happy”, then they responded “poor people made that up.”  What money will do is magnify your personal brand, it will make u brighter or dimmer.  I’ve been happier ever time I’am able to earn more income, as of right now I don’t have high min payments, I have a house, I’m moving towards my goals, I can actual afford food if I want to [seriously] and I can have some freedom, i would argue in most cases money can make you happier by giving you options in life.

The people who tell me money isn’t that important or don’t want that much, are always the ones complaining about how expensive stuff is.  WELL, that is why I’m working on building wealth, so the things you want, a vacation, a horse, a new car, ability to pay for your schools’ college, I can do without HAVING TO WORRY.  Is not the money, it is what the money can do for you.

Money is not the root of all evil,  MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL PROSPERITY.   Competition allows people to strive for greatness, and schools compete for better classrooms, money is a good thing that empowers people to do more.  It is an incentive that helps bring GOOD things to our lives, businesses, googles, microsofts, fords, the companies are the true unsung heros of America, and money is the root of all prosperity.

Welcome Cody - The Siberian Husky

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

My parents and I just picked up a new dog today. We got a Siberian husky, I’d always wanted a Siberian husky, our old dog molly passed away about 2 months ago now. Isn’t he awesome, his name is Cody and is three years old, we were lucky to get him, as there were many holds on him, but everyone else sorta missed up for whatever reason. We is strong, maybe he can help me program my web 2.0 project, teaching him php has been difficult so far.

One of the great lessons you learn when doing sales for awhile is the attitude that if someone says no to your product or service, in your mind, it’s “great, who’s next.”  In other words, you never dwell on a prospect or someone, you don’t bug people by calling them always and trying to get them to sign up with your service, or product.

Look, it isn’t like I’m special or rich or anything, but lately people have been interested in getting together with me and talking about real estate, making money online, entrepreneurship or whatever.  I say alright, I’m available here, here and here, and then I never hear anything back from the other people.

If your not serious about learning real estate or whatever lets not get in contact with me showing interest but no serious intention.  It isn’t helping peoples’ image when they don’t follow up with what they are interested in.  Again, I’m not rich or super successful (well I’m in my own mind) but don’t hurt your own image by not following through.

I’m sure if you asked some of the people who I help with real estate, or entrepreneurship most of them would say I’ve been help to them.  I normally provide people with not a to-do list, but helping others understand the philosophy of living good, which is normally read more number one, and associate more with others who are doing what your interested in number two.

When we approach someone to learn something, follow up after they have spent time saying to you when they are available.  I’m not sure of the big education in this post, but a lot of people keep asking me to get together and then never get together, I got better things to do than to tell you when I’m available if your not serious about getting together later.

This isn’t anyone in particular at all, if your in contact with me regularly I’m not talking about us, more so lots of requests lately of new people interested in learning, but thats all they are, interested, but not serious.  You can be interested in being wealthy, but if your just interested in being, you’ll probably be poor.

So lets get serious when you ask to get together with someone, get together with them, or don’t bother asking.

Blast From The Past (Elementary/Middle School)

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

I was browsing on the internet on my old friends site back from 2000, I think was around 12 then! Anyways, it was interesting to see the work I did back then and how it has progressed to becoming an individual passionate about entrepreneurship. This is just a self expression about myself growing up, and some of the major influences on my life and really how it made a major difference in who I am today.

Most important thing in middle school would be meeting my best friend, Cameron Boehmer, who is my age. He and I had an interest in computers, in the 3rd grade I had access to a computer and the internet, and it all started from there.Cam and I would later start Jingyee, Inc a company that focused on building a web company that focused around student notes, corvallis classifieds text book exchange, and showing off student works.

Nothing really incredible happend in middle school, I went to a public elementary school, Laurelhurst, and don’t really keep in touch with anyone from there. I got hooked on this game called Ultima Online, a massive mutliplayer online game, the best in my opinion.

Here is a video I made in middle school, one of the several flash productions I did:

Wes Mahler’s First Fighting Video

That went on for several years, in elementary/middle school I thought it would be cool to become a computer programmer. I ended up at a public middle school, Fernwood, where I would meet one of the most influential people that has affected my course of life. Although he does not even know about my blog, and I don’t in touch with him much now, he was from a good family and was very entrepreneurial. He was always coming up with ways, and ideas on how to create income. He was reading books on accounting, rich dad poor dad, the stock market, this is in middle school. He was a very attractive person at the time, not in that way, but attractive in the sense that I’d like to be around someone of that character, someone who was doing stuff out going.

Well he was also interested in computers, and then he and I would start a little buisness together in middle school. It was Yaffice, a web design company. We mainly just made websites in frontpage templates lol, and we had a client with a restaruant, we started to work on the website but I don’t believe we ever finished it. Maybe I was not a good worker at the time, but I don’t remember finishing it. He might of done some more things.

That kind of got me started, meeting an indivudal who was interested in entrepreneurship. I diddn’t even know what the word entrepreneur was untill I was a senior in HS, and little did I know what would happen then.

I will always be gratiful for meeting someone who has had an impact on my life, and I say thank you whenever I get the chance to talk with him over the phone. Although we are not in touch really lately, it has been a blessing to meet someone who got me started.

I was developing flash macromedia graphics at the time, Stephen and I became the teacher’s assistant for the computer class. Cool Hu! We thought so, especially when we put trojan horses on everyones computer, and could open their CD roms, shut down their computers from any computer in the school, and basically mess with everyone, lol. Anyways, thats kind of funny, but true! Stephen showed me that, oh yeah, we also got a password cracker for the teachers’ passwords. At that time in Windows NT, I believe it was you could get all of the passwords, download the encrypted passwords to a datadisc, and bring them home and have a cracker program, basically run through all of the options. a, b, c, … aa, ab, ac, … aaa, aab, etc etc etc. And it’d find the passwords, cool hu!

I don’t think he ever changed his grades but we were pretty close hah. Um, middle school wasn’t a good time for me grade wise, I got around a 1.5 GPA and, 2.0s I got alot of Ds. I ended up finishing middle school with like a 2.0 gpa average, of course that doesn’t matter, although in realitly it does, it set me up for horrible grades in HS. I was kind of a trouble maker, I got suspended 3 times for fighting kids at school, I guess thats normal though.

At the time we were having trouble, my brother was having troubles at public school, and my parents did not want me to goto public school. I look back now, and had I taken the road my brother had gone down, I would be, um, I’am not exactly sure but it wouldn’t be pretty I’d be failing out of school, partying, not being productive, behind on my dreams, and like some of the unfortunate friends have wound up that I’ve associated with.

Although middle school was good, I agree with my English teacher on this one, that high school was the most influential period of my life which would be the major determing factor in where I’am today, and will be in the future.

Hahaha Oops

So I’ve been searching for my little note pad with stuff to fix and stuff to add on my web 2.0 company.  I walked into Wells Fargo, made a deposit, and I believe I left it there.  HAHA! I laugh at myself, note to self! Don’t leave your buisness ideas in public domain at the bank.  Opps :)

Programming

My web host was down yesterday, so I created another Rotary Engine Rebuild Video, read a book on Exit Strageties (Selling Your Business), and created a logo for my new web 2.0 company. Not much to post right now.

Although there is now 102 referrals in my agloco network.

The ants are busy working in the winter!

We have to be very careful on whom we accept advice from; I’m following in the footsteps of Robert Kiyosaki. He was poor and homeless for 9 months of his life. People said, why you don’t get a job, he and his wife lived in a friend’s home for those 9 months.

With my recent plans to move down to San Francisco, and talking with some close friends they can not believe that I would do such a thing. You’re not going to finish school? What happens if it all fails, you can’t just get rich quick wes? Why don’t you just get a job, what happens if your business fails, what will you do then. You’re making a huge mistake by not going to college.

That is why the title of my blog is what it is, people think I’m crazy, although what they don’t realize is that I’m not interested in being secure, I want the risk, I want to start a business, and quite frankly, I refuse to get a job, and that’s why everyone is recommending finishing school, so I can get a job. That just pushes me even farther away from school, people just don’t understand.

And theses people, although I love my associates who give me advice, and are really just looking to help me, although they do not have the lifestyles in which I want to live. I do not personally have a very few amount of people I know who are successful entrepreneurs with businesses which are systematic. Most of the people, in fact only 5% of the population is not financially independent, that means 95% of the people YOU know aren’t financially independent.

It simply comes down to this basic idea, “If you buy someone’s opinion, you buy their lifestyle.” You got to be careful from who you accept advice from, if you haven’t read Robert Kiyosaki’s on the cash flow quadrant, you’ll know what I mean.

Just down to earth advice: People will suggest you what to do, and why you should do it. Do those people really know you, are they rich? If there not, you shouldn’t be listening to them, or do so, but very cautiously. I do not personally know anyone rich yet, although I have my books, and I know what they did, and they did what most people do not do. No one in my family of many people has a real entrepreneurial business.

I’m like the outcast, one person, who rebels against the system. Or they say, but Wesley, all of your old businesses have failed. Well yes, sort of. Maybe the businesses have failed, but every time I learn. Matter of fact, I plan on loosing more and more, I’ve lost than most people have, and because of that I will succeed more than others. If I got a job, because I wanted to be safe and secure, that is failure to me, to settle down, and be less than I can be, and settle for a monthly paycheck. NO, I’m not going to do that.

People act like you have to go to college to be successful. I’m not going to sit here and take the advice from other individuals who are not rich, when what I want to do, is be rich, so I listen to those who are rich. I love my contacts, I appreciate them, but sorry, I’m going to do, what others do not do, I’am going to do the exact opposite than the masses.

Ryan Allis is a 22 year old entrepreneur, his company grosses around 5 million a year, he said college can wait. Thomas Edison never went to school, Bill Gates dropped out of college, Mark Zuckerberg of FaceBook dropped out of college. My parents friend Mike Merifield, I don’t even believe finished high school and he does multi million dollar deals, it is just extremely crazy the idea, that you have to go to school, and you are making a big mistake if you don’t go to school.

This is a rant, but it comes down to the simple idea, that you don’t have to go to school, if you are not passionate about school, and want to start a business, well do that, and that is success, doing what it is you want to do, and doing a good job at it. Success isn’t going to school; success is whatever you want to do in life, and doing it.

Hey if my business fails, which some probably will, that’s great, I’m going to keep going, and make it happen, and so should you my entrepreneur friend. Again, that is why my title is what it is, because I’m going to do what most people think is irrational, all I’m doing, is what the rich people do, and since most people aren’t rich or don’t think like rich people do, most people do not understand. I’am going to force myself as in the early post. I HAVE TO MAKE THIS WORK, AND I WILL MAKE THIS WORK, I’AM GOING TO PUT MYSELF INTO A SITUTATION WHERE I HAVE TO SUCEED.  FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION, I’LL BURN THE SHIPS AND CANNOT GO BACK, I MUST SUCCEED AND WILL MAKE IT WORK AND YOU WILL SEE TOO WITHIN 5 YEARS.
